''Madikeri is the district capital of Kodagu (Coorg) district of Karnataka in Southern India. PLACES AROUND MADIKERI
Madikeri Fort - It was first built as a mud fort by Mudduraja in 17th century. Once the seat of the rulers of Kodagu, the fort is protected by an irregular hexagon of walls with bastions at each angle, surrounded by a channel.
Dubare Elephant Camp - The most famous of all Madikeri attractions is Dubare Elephant Camp which is known for the training of elephants. The nearby forests of Dubare give you an opportunity to explore the vivid wildlife of these forests.
Omkareshwara Temple - This ancient temple, which was built in year 1820 by Linga Rajendra II, is also a prime Madikeri attraction. Omkareshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Raja's Seat - According to legend, the kings of Kodagu spent their evenings here. But what's unforgettable about Raja's seat is the spectacular sunset that one can enjoy from here.
The Abbey Falls - A great picnic spot located about 7 kms from Medikeri amid a valley of coffee and cardamom plantations. Here, the gushing waterfall water drops from 70 ft.

Air: Madikeri has no airport of its own. The nearest airport is Mangalore terminal (Mangalore - 136 kms) and Karipur (Kozhikode180 kms).
Rail: The nearest railway station to Madikeri is Mysore which has good rail connectivity and nearest railhead is Managalore which is connected to all cities in India. Others are Hassan or Cannanore and Tellicherry in Kerala.
