Ola Play: Ola ties up with YuppTV, users can now watch live television during their ride

BENGALURU : Homegrown cab hailing application Ola has partnered with OTT platform YuppTV to add live TV options for the company's in-car entertainment service Ola Play.
End users will have access to various television channels, including live news. According to the company, the content available will be customised depending on customer preferences and ride information including time, destination and preferred language.
"With this partnership, Ola Play brings live TV inside a cab for the first time, by leveraging OTT services of YuppTV to bring an experience that is easily accessible through the user's mobile phone as well as the tab mounted in the backseat. We are bringing a range of TV channels to Ola Play, including live news channels that are accessible on-the-go and will certainly make travel time more productive," said Ankit Jain, the head of Ola Play.
Presently, Ola Play is prevalent in six cities, these include Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad. According to sources in the company, Ola Play is particularly popular among cab riders during airport pick ups and drops and the popularity of the product is gradually picking up. The company also recently announced a partnership with the Airport Authority of India to set up kiosks and Ola zones in cities including Pune and Lucknow. The company claims that the association with YuppTv also adds value to the company’s existing products including Ola Rental and Ola Outstation.
According to Uday Reddy, founder of YuppTV the partnership with Ola will also boost the OTT platforms existing user base. “Ola’s unique connected car experience, Ola Play, allows for an immersive entertainment experience that is now going to be customized in accordance to the unique tastes and preferences of Ola cab riders. We are affirmative that in addition to increasing the user base of YuppTV, the association will now make Ola cab rides fun and entertaining for the commuters,” said Reddy.
Earlier on Ola had partnered with the likes of Apple Music, digital media entertainment startup TVF, amongst others to add content on Ola Play.
