Lakshadweep, a land in the deep Arabian Sea is a part of the Indian Subcontinent and is recognized as the smallest Union Territory of India. Kadmat Island One of the inhabited islands of the Lakshadweep group of islands is the Kadmat Island, which lies between the 11.13 degrees north latitude and the 72.47 degrees longitude. The present population of the island rises to 5319 persons who live and work in the island and communicate in the language of Malayalam.

Climate of Lakshadweep

Climatic conditions are similar to that of Kerala. Average rainfall is 1600mma year with the major share from the southwest monsoon. Almost all islands experience tropical climate with temperature ranging from 25 degrees c to 35 degrees c and humidity ranging from 70 -76 per cent during the most part of the year. March, April and May are the hottest months of the year.

Best Time to visit

The weather in Lakshadweep remains pleasant throughout the year but the best time to visit the place is between October and April. The temperature doesn't usually exceed 30 degrees.

Lakshadweep is a group of small islands located around two to four hundred kilometer from the south-western coast of India. These islands are the smallest union territory of India and are separated from the Indian mainland by the Arabian Sea. By Sea Traveling by ship is also a good option to reach Lakshadweep. A number of passenger ships operate from Kochi (Cochin) to Lakshadweep. The distance can be traveled in nearly 18 to 20 hours. The ships offer a range of accommodation and modern amenities. However, during the monsoons, the ship services remain closed.
