Budhakhol is located in Buguda of Ganjam District of Orissa. Budhakhol has a geographical area of almost 8070.6 square Kms .Its district headquater is in Chatrapur, 92 Kms away and its boundary shared with Andhra Pradesh.
Budhakhol got its name from Badhesvara i.e. Buddha in meditating position, as it is believed that Buddha visited this place. Huentsang also visited Budhakhol and witnessed learning and teaching of Buddha followers. He believed that this is one of the best places to learn about Buddhism.An era old five temples of Lord Shiva is named as Sri Sri Makereshwar Swami, Sri Sri Gangadhareshwar Swami, Sri Sri Jagadeshwar Swami, Sri Sri Siddheshwar Swami and Sri Sri Budheshwar Swami.
Budhakhol have ‘Panchu Mahadev’ temples, 5 temples of Lord Shiva on the top of the hill and also surrounded by Buddhist archaeology and Buddha images. Near to waterfall a Buddha image of 7th century is kept.
