Kolakambai waterfall is an unbroken 400 feet or 120 m waterfall which lies in the North of Kolakambai hills and 26 km away from famous tourist spot of Coonoor. This is the highest waterfall located in the dense forest in lap of Kolakombai mountain of Nilgiri Range. The region around the fall is the boundary of Coimbatore district. It lies in the western most part of Tamilnadu and on the junction of Karnataka and Kerala state. Waterfall lies in the Western Ghats mountain chain of Nilgiri.
The Kolakambai waterfall is the highest amongst the many cascades flowing down the Nilgiri mountainous range. The Kolakambai falls are placed at the northern side of the Kolakambai Hills. The Kolakambai hills are a part of the Nilgiri range of mountains i.e. the Blue Mountains, literally. The adjoining area near the Kolakambai Falls is rich in floral and faunal diversity.
