Waate Halla Waterfall

Waate halla falls, where ‘Watte” means bamboo and “halla” in Kannada means rivulet, is called so because of the abundant growth of a kind of bamboo found along the river bank of the Waate Halla River. This waterfall is surrounded by a thick and dense forest. One feels closer to the sublime as the water falls amidst diverse fauna.

This falls is created by the tributary of Aghanashini river. It is situated 30 kms from Sirsi town, Western Ghats. The waterfalls plunges from about 100ft. Waate meaning river side bamboo, which is found here in abundance. Halla meaning pit. Hole meaning pond. This place is close to Unchalli fall, Benne hole falle, Yana.

This downhill trail is filled with water cane that becomes your main grip while trekking. The ground is extremely slippery with loose soil and dry leaves so remember to grip the lanky cane as you trek. Five hundred meters down, a zigzag snaking trail challenges you and the most help the forest offers are the vague paths that are quite indistinct.
