There Are Some Tips About Food and Drinks

Foods, according to their effects on the mind are classified into three categories, namely, sattvika, rajasika and tamasika, Milk, milk products, wheat, rice and so on, belong to the first category; meat, eggs, hot spices to the second catefory; while stale, putrid and sour ingredients belong to the third category. The patient suffering from high blood pressure and sleeplessness should avoid rajasika food and resort to sattvika food. Nonvegetarian, hot, salty and pungent food ingredients are not useful for him. Vegetarian food, milk, fruits, ghee and sweet ingredients are, on the other hand, very useful. Habitually taking a glass of milk at bedtime helps to induce good sleep.

Dals, potato, arbi, lady’s finger and fried food cause aggravation of vayu. Patients with high blood pressure and sleeplessness should avoid such food. On the other hand, ginger, asafoetifda, cumin seeds, garlic and onion reduce vayu, and therefore, are useful. Chillies, hot pickles and hevy food should be avoided.
